When we first moved into our home, there were no window treatments. One of the first things we had to do for obvious privacy reason was purchase blinds for all the windows. We soon figured out with the afternoon heating, that we needed to put up window curtains to keep the heat at bay. I purchased the Energy Saving kind, and immediately noticed a difference. The rooms stayed much cooler, and the A/C wasn't running as much. Yes, the initial investment was slightly more than traditional curtains, but they more than paid for themselves in the first month of an Oklahoma summer.

Since the house flooded in January, and they had to cut out the bottom half of the walls in the kitchen, hallway, living room, and had to replace all the drywall, we were lucky to get the hideous wallpaper that was here when we moved in replaced. However, the wallpaper was a darkish blue color, and I had the walls painted a light yellow. That combined with the bright morning sun means blinds are NOT sufficient in the dining room/kitchen area. So, I am trying to decide what type of curtain treatments to put in there. Do I want the cute kitchen style, or full curtains to block out all that sun in the heat of the summer? I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
